Fear Knot Charters was recommended to my husband and I from another charter company in Alaska with a good reputation for catering to your good time in Alaska.  It was our honeymoon in June 2009 and we wanted to see Alaska and experience all it had to offer and more.

Well, Bob and Fear Knot gave us exactly that.  We wanted to fish all aspects and catch a variety of fish and of course being the wildlife lovers that we are, we were also hoping to see some whales, sea lions, otters, eagles and such.  Bob and his deck hand were more than willing. 

After being on the "Knot Bad" boat for no less than 20 minutes I saw my very first sea otter and got great video of the little guy, he stopped the boat as close as he could to let us have a look.  Not long after that he had suddenly stopped the boat and started knocking on the side of the boat and before you know it there we a pod of porpoises surrounding the boat.  

Then the fishing started, WOW did we ever.  We fished the deep waters for a chance at a monster Halibut, not a lot of action at that point so he asked us what we wanted to do, stay or go in a little shallower, we decided to move. 

Let's just say we couldn't keep the fish off our lines for a good solid 4 hours.  We caught fish from Black Bass by the dozens, to Lingcod all over 30#, as fast as we could reel them in, which was exhausting. The highlight of our honey moon was when my husband and I hooked into 60# Lings at the same time, which I guess just does not happen.  Not long after I didn't think it could get any better my husband hooks up with the catch of his life (no, not me) non other than a 100# Halibut.  I have never seen something from start to finish so incredible from hook set to landing the fish finally. 

All together we spent 2 weeks in an RV traveling Alaska and to the moment we left the airport we couldn't stop talking about the time in Valdez with Bob and Fear Knot Charters.  It was so nice to be in the company of great people and great times.  We highly recommend Fear Knot Charters and plan to visit Bob very soon.

I wanted to say thanks for 3 great charters this year!  I’ve never caught so many fish,  and so many different species of fish.   The 150 pound halibut is my largest yet, and to catch it on a salmon rod while drifting was unreal.  The feeding frenzy on the last trip was something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.  Watching in front of my eyes a 45 inch ling cod swallowing a 40 inch ling cod was unbelieveable.  You definitely got it together.  

I brought home over 230 pounds of fillets of salmon, halibut, ling cod, rock fish, yellow eye, and tiger eye.   The 10-11 pound class yellow eye’s were impressive.  My fishing buddies are geared and ready to climb aboard again for another adventure.  We are also looking forward to hooking into some salmon sharks as well.  By the way, you’re the first charter I’ve ever gone on that supplied food and beverages as well, you think of everything.  It certainly makes the adventure a total package. 

The previous charters took approximately 3-4 hours to get on the fishing hole and the captains were more than willing to pull the anchor once you caught a fish of any size.  You had us on fish within 2 hours and never told us which fish we were keeping and you stayed on fish the entire day.  Myself, as well as my buddies, can’t impress on you enough how much that meant and how it added to our trips.  We will be back next year!

Before all six fishing lines were in the water, "Fish On" was hollered by four people all at once.  Did we hit the jackpot!  20 Halibut in less than an hour.  We caught Lingcod, Skate, Sea Bass, Shark, Yellow Eye Rock Fish & of course Halibut.  My daughter had the best birthday yet.  "Knot Bad"...that is an understatement.  Simply amazing fishing trip with friends and
family and memories to last a lifetime!
